This reminded me of a piece of artwork I bought off eBay a couple of years ago by a well&nbsp; known PAN cover artist, namely<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/Advertising\/JRaynes\/JohnRaynes.htm\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">John Raynes.<\/span><\/strong><\/a> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">I was the only bidder and looking back it cost me \u00a330 which was a real bargain as it came in a nice frame and the size (60cm x 30cm) means it fits perfectly over a door. Just Googling I&#8217;ve spotted several of John&#8217;s artworks around the mid \u00a31,500 mark with one at nearly \u00a36,000! Click on the postcard to see the artwork of the Chateau at Chinon.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Chinon1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Chinon2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11705\" width=\"453\" height=\"324\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Chinon2.jpg 604w, https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Chinon2-300x215.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 453px) 100vw, 453px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">PAN were quite consistent in naming their imprints beginning with &#8216;P&#8217; with &#8216;Piccolo&#8217; and &#8216;Young Piper&#8217; for children&#8217;s titles and &#8216;Pavanne&#8217;, &#8216;Picador&#8217; and &#8216;Piper&#8217; for adult titles although &#8216;Picador&#8217; could have been &#8216;Primrose&#8217; as this was originally suggested.&nbsp;<\/span><br><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I&#8217;ve previously mentioned trying to find<\/span> &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/2017\/Assorted\/PANPavanne.htm\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Pavanne&#8217; titles where the name is under the PAN logo<\/span><\/strong><\/a> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">before PAN used just the Pavanne name. I do like the artwork on some of the Pavanne&#8217; titles but dislike others. I&#8217;ll add a few of my favourites shortly but here are a couple of &#8216;Pavanne&#8217; tiles given away with &#8216;Options&#8217; in 1983\/4. They&nbsp; asked me NOT to include their cover as they really didn&#8217;t like it and it was not the sort of thing they did now. With this year being the 50th anniversary of &#8216;Picador&#8217; I&#8217;ve got out the sets published for their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Picador30.jpg\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">30th anniversary set<\/span><\/strong><\/a> which had &#8216;XXX&#8217; on the spines above &#8216;Picador&#8217;, the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Picador40.jpg\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">40th anniversary set<\/span><\/a><\/strong> which had &#8217;40&#8217; under &#8216;Picador&#8217; and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Picador50.jpg\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">50th anniversary set<\/span><\/strong><\/a> which had &#8216;Collection&#8217; under &#8216;Picador&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While looking through some duplicates deciding which to pass on to a National Trust secondhand bookshop I found a postcard of French Chateaus.
