She was a pioneering pilot and the first woman to do a parachute jump in South Africa . Her ashes were due to be scattered from a Spitfire on the 7th April but it was postponed. It is interesting to see the same photo was used for the covers of all editions of her autobiography including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/Later%20PANs\/PANG238.htm\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">PAN G238 &#8216;Woman Pilot&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/a> painted by de Marco. Gerald Alexander Fahey (1919 to 1999) painted several covers for PAN but not under his real name but as de Marco. Fahey painted Sci\/Fi covers in the fifties under his real name and one example is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/2c5d3c5079864c65a4cd0f94a78ff6ef.jpg\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">HERE<\/span><\/strong><\/a> I<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> think his later covers were an improvement!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Picador.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Picador.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11784\" width=\"322\" height=\"102\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Picador.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Picador-300x95.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 322px) 100vw, 322px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As promised here are a few <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/2022\/PicadorPavvanne\/Pavanne86.htm\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;Pavanne&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/a> and &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/2022\/PicadorPavvanne\/PicadorProof.htm\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Picador&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/a> covers. The &#8216;Pavanne&#8217; selection is from a style used around 1986 and has one which is not painted but is here as it includes my surname of which I have a small collection. The &#8216;Picadors&#8217; are later but proof copies of which there seems to be an inordinate amount around. The majority of the &#8216;Pavanne&#8217; covers are in &#8216;B&#8217; format apart from the 1984 edition of <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em><strong>&#8216;The Dud Avocado&#8217;<\/strong><\/em><\/span> in &#8216;A&#8217; format. I did order a 1987 edition which mysteriously got &#8216;lost in the post&#8217; As this was the only copy I could find on the web I beginning to have my suspicions &#8230;&#8230;!!! I have included one back cover to show how they featured the writer and will do the others when I have time.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/picador40thbanner-468-x-153.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"468\" height=\"153\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/picador40thbanner-468-x-153.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12169\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>UPDATE<\/strong> I have now got a copy of the 1987 edition of<\/span> <em><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">&#8216;The Dud Avocado&#8217;<\/span> <\/strong><\/em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">which did cost me a bit more than the &#8216;lost&#8217; copy as I expected!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Always pleased to find another Hans Helweg and this time it&#8217;s for <a href=\"https:\/\/tikit.net\/HansHelweg\/HansChildrens.htm\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">&#8216;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The Old Woman and her Pig&#8217;<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em> i<\/a>n the Oxford University Press Structured Readers.
