{"id":1310,"date":"2013-07-01T07:10:25","date_gmt":"2013-07-01T07:10:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/?p=1310"},"modified":"2013-07-01T07:10:25","modified_gmt":"2013-07-01T07:10:25","slug":"tom-sawyer-and-huckleberry-finn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/2013\/07\/01\/tom-sawyer-and-huckleberry-finn\/","title":{"rendered":"Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was one of those strange coincidences that I mentioned <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a title=\"Bestsellers Of Literature\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tikit.net\/PAN%202006\/Best%20Sellers\/Best%20Sellers.htm\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;Bestsellers of Literature&#8217; <\/span><\/a><\/span>last week, 20 of the 24 covers being painted by <a title=\"John Raynes\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tikit.net\/Advertising\/JRaynes\/JohnRaynes.htm\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">John Raynes<\/span><\/a>, when I got an email from the man himself. John had been contacted by one of the boys who had modelled for the cover of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">&#8216;Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn&#8217;<\/span> asking if he still had a copy of the cover which he didn&#8217;t. I helped out by forwarding a scan of my copy but in return I have the names of the two boys and where the painting was done.<\/p>\n<p>It was in 1968 that John took Tim Wilcocks and <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a title=\"Simon Games-Thomas\" href=\"http:\/\/uk.linkedin.com\/pub\/simon-games-thomas\/6\/115\/226\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Simon Games-Thomas <\/span><\/a><\/span>to <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a title=\"Stogumber Church\" href=\"http:\/\/www.stogumber.org.uk\/church.php\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Stogumber Church <\/span><\/a><\/span>in Somerset where he photographed them. Tim was the one standing and\u00a0played Tom while the one sitting was Simon as Huck.
