Whilst still in the Navy, he wrote six comic novels featuring Commander Robert Bollinger Badger DSC RN otherwise know as &#8220;The Artful Bodger&#8221; PAN published five of the titles in this series namely <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/PANG504.htm\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;We Joined the Navy&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/PAN%202006\/G%20Series\/PANG624.htm\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>&#8216;We Saw the Sea&#8217;<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/PAN%202006\/G%20Series\/PANG672.htm\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;Down the Hatch&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/PAN%202010\/PANX387.htm\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>&#8216;Never Go to Sea&#8217;<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/PAN%202010a\/PANX512.htm\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;All the Nice Girls&#8217; <\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/a><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">but not the sixth &#8216;<em><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Good Enough for Nelson&#8217;<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This weeks original artwork by Glenn Steward is for the fourth title but disappointingly it had been matted when framed and the matte stuck on with double sided sticky tape so it will have to remain as it is. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/NavyFilm.jpg\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;We Join the Navy&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/a> was made into a film in 1962 with a movie poster painted by Tom William Chantrell.<\/span><\/span><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">PAN also published three other titles by John Winton of which two were fiction namely <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/2024\/Feb\/Temeraire.htm\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;The Fighting T\u00e9m\u00e9raire&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/em> <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/2024\/Feb\/Leviathan.htm\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;HMS Leviathan&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/a> while <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>&#8216;<a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/2024\/Feb\/Haguro.htm\">Sink the Haguro!&#8217;<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/span> was non-fiction.
