This time it is X1 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/PANX1.htm\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;<em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">E<\/span>astern Approaches&#8217;<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/a> by <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sir_Fitzroy_Maclean,_1st_Baronet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Fitzroy Maclean<\/span><\/strong><\/a> with the Bruce C Windo cover ousting the Carl Wilton version. Major-General Sir Fitzroy Hew Royle Maclean of Dunconnel, Bt KT CBE is often cited as the model for James Bond but then again are so many others.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/gun.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-16048\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/gun-300x185.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"165\" height=\"102\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/gun-300x185.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/gun.jpg 356w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 165px) 100vw, 165px\" \/><\/a>While sorting my James Mayo (penname of Stephen Coulter) covers I though I had made a mistake as I had three copies of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/2024\/July\/AskingForIt.htm\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;Asking For It&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/a> all dated 1972. The first was just a standard, the second had a &#8216;New In Pan&#8217; sticker but the third was completely different. I have to say I don&#8217;t really like the earlier cover with the ventriloquists&#8217; dummy and I guessing the one featuring a tape is the later version as the price has gone up 5p. As everything is exactly the same I presume they are just using up previous text blocks. This title is number six in the &#8216;Charles Hood&#8217; series.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Latimer.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-16058\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Latimer.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"163\" height=\"217\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/PANG456.htm\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;Solomon&#8217;s Vineyard&#8217;<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/span> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">by<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jonathan_Latimer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Jonathan Latimer<\/span> <\/strong><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">is another title with two covers both with the same date of 1961. I think the earlier one could be the Sam &#8216;PEFF&#8217; Peffer\u00a0 version with the other being later just from the style of painting. I&#8217;m wondering if the one was a UK version as it is priced whereas the other has no price on the cover or back which could make it an international edition.
