I have found at least five that have PAN artwork but are not the right titles so here is a quiz. Personally I agree that the artists deserve recognition but Rupert was an art historian and did everything by the rules. Perhaps the images he found had already had the signatures removed?&#8221;<\/span><\/strong><\/em> If he was using the PAN editions which are mostly &#8216;PEFF&#8217; &#8216;Keay&#8217; or &#8216;Sheldon&#8217; then they are clearly signed as in the 3rd PAN printing of 139 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/PAN139.htm\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;Sorry You&#8217;ve Been Troubled&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/a><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> but oddly not G160 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/PANG160.htm\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;Dark Duet&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/a> by Sam Peffer<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/Doubleday.htm\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"477\" height=\"216\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Eastern.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16306\" style=\"width:273px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Eastern.jpg 477w, https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Eastern-300x136.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 477px) 100vw, 477px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Having picked up a copy of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/2022\/Harrowhouse.htm\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8217;11 Harrowhouse Street&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/a> with a dust jacket recently I was really pleased to get a copy of the US edition of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/Doubleday.htm\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;Eastern Nights &#8211; and\u00a0 Flights&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/a> by Alan Bott, founder of PAN Books, also with a dust jacket. The book itself is fairly common but this is the first dust jacket I&#8217;ve seen although not the most inspiring. Still trying to find out if this was the &#8216;house style&#8217; for a series as was common here in the UK?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Image2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-16309\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Image2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"184\" height=\"166\" \/><\/a>This weeks book with the same title and same number but this time two years apart is for Peter Cheyney&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/PANG280.htm\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;Uneasy Terms&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/a> published by PAN as G280 in 1959 and 1961. Both covers are by Sam &#8216;PEFF&#8217; Peffer but why PAN felt the need for a revamp but kept the exact same back cover I&#8217;ve no idea.
