I have sorted out my later Shaw&#8217;s from the 70s and early 80s which can be seen <a href=\"https:\/\/tikit.net\/2025\/January\/Shaw.htm\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">HERE<\/span><\/strong><\/a> PAN also published <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/2018\/YoungLions\/YoungLions.htm\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>&#8216;Young Lions&#8217;<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/a> in many editions from 1957 onwards plus X131 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/PANX131.htm\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;Two Weeks in Another Town&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/a>, G295 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/PANG295.htm\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;Tip on a Dead Jockey&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/a>, G337 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/PANG337.htm\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;Lucy Crown&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/a> and M12 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/PANM12.htm\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;Mixed Company&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/a> Irwin Shaw was born Irwin Gilbert Shamforoff (27\/02\/1913 \u2013 16\/05\/1984) and was an American playwright, screenwriter, novelist, and short-story author who has sold more than 14 million copies. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/2018\/YoungLions\/YoungLions.htm\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>&#8216;The Young Lions&#8217;<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> is<\/span> <\/span>about the fate of three soldiers during World War II and was made into a film starring Marlo Brando and Montgomery Clift.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Every.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-16814 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Every-127x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"80\" height=\"189\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Every-127x300.jpg 127w, https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Every.jpg 134w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 80px) 100vw, 80px\" \/><\/a>Having mentioned last week the two &#8216;roughs&#8217; by Gordon King I got for <a href=\"https:\/\/tikit.net\/2025\/January\/Zenda.htm\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;The Prisoner of Zenda&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/a> I set about trying to find the edition they might have eventually ended up in. I bought the Everyman Library paperback edition as it said illustrated by Gordon King to find they had just used his artwork for the cover. I then thought I would investigate the hardback edition only to find no mention of Gordon at all but with a cover by Steve Lavis. Does anyone have an edition that has illustration in the book as neither of these do?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/FAYearBook.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"446\" height=\"132\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/FAYearBook.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16817\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/FAYearBook.jpg 446w, https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/FAYearBook-300x89.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 446px) 100vw, 446px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As well as publishing the <a href=\"https:\/\/tikit.net\/2022\/Football\/Football.htm\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>Referees&#8217; Handbook<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/a>, PAN was also involved with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/2025\/January\/FAYearBook.htm\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Football Association Year Book<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/a> for a short while, The 71\/72 edition was published by Pelham while the 72\/73, 73\/74 and 74\/75 editions were published by Heinemann and distributed by PAN and had two ISBNs from both publishers. It wasn&#8217;t until the 75\/76 and 76\/77 editions that Heinemann disappeared and PAN took over as official publisher with their logo on the spine.
