I&#8217;ve selected some including one about a problem with the initial launch in 1947 which I&#8217;ve put<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Apology.jpg\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">HERE<\/span><\/strong><\/a>.. <span style=\"color: #000000;\">Others mention the launch of the<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/bALLANTINE.jpg\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">PAN\/Ballantine War Series<\/span><\/strong><\/a> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">on sale at &#8216;Fags and Mags&#8217; and the\u00a0<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/pantIME.jpg\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;International PAN Time&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> while another refers to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/DiamondsComp.jpg\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;Diamonds Are Forever&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/a> competition where PAN books could be won. Several of the other clipping refers to specific books which I&#8217;ll be adding to their pages over time.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I&#8217;ve come across a PAN edition of <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em><strong>&#8216;Peyton Place&#8217;<\/strong><\/em><\/span> I&#8217;ve not seen before but unfortunately it is in Turkey. I started a conversation with the seller but it has since gone quiet so all I have is <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/PeytonPlace22.jpg\">a photo of the cover<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/span> and not even a date. I may try and restart it but as $30 for postage was mentioned I&#8217;m not too sure. I&#8217;ve tacked it onto the end of my Grace Matalious page <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/2018\/Metalious\/Metalious.htm\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> as I think it is later than all the ones I have now. If any one has a spare copy and or could let me have a scan of the front and back covers plus the date then please email. This reminds me I&#8217;m still trying to find a 1972 copy of <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/PeytonPlace.jpg\"><em><strong>&#8216;Peyton Place&#8217;<\/strong><\/em> <\/a><\/span>as well.<br \/>UPDATE I think I have found a copy of <em><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Peyton Place<\/span><\/strong><\/em> from 1978 and it is in the post.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Erratum.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"785\" height=\"483\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Erratum.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17631\" style=\"width:414px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Erratum.jpg 785w, https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Erratum-300x185.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Erratum-768x473.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 785px) 100vw, 785px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As I have mentioned I am part of group working to reopen a disused railway track as a Greenway for which we need the occasional fund raiser.\u00a0 Recently we had a very interesting and informative talk on &#8216;The Great Train Robbery&#8217; by Steve Geale. As he then went on to talk about local murderers this brought to mind a book I read a longtime ago which was PAN E1 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/PAN%202010%20T\/PANE1.htm\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;Encyclopedia of Murder&#8217;<\/span> <\/strong><\/em><\/a>by Colin Wilson and Pat Pitman from 1964. This was republished in 1984 followed up by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/PAN%202010%20T\/PANE1.htm\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;Encyclopedia of Modern Murder&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/em> <\/a>by Colin Wilson and this time Donald Seaman in 1986.\u00a0 In my 1964 edition there has an erratum slip as above but I&#8217;ve compared the text in both the 1964 and 1984 editions and it seems to be the same?<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have been going through back copies of &#8216;The Bookseller&#8217; and have found several references to PAN Books, some of which I&#8217;ve used before, but also quite a few new ones.
