Cecil Louis Troughton Smith (27\/08\/1899 to 02\/04\/1966) was an English novelist probably best known for writing tales of naval warfare, such as the twelve book Horatio Hornblower series depicting a Royal Navy officer during the Napoleonic Wars of which PAN published <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/2022\/Hornblower\/Hornblower.htm\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">four titles.<\/span><\/strong><\/a> Forester was born in Cairo and died in California but with a blue plaque in Dulwich!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/AAlex3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"504\" height=\"201\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/AAlex3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18534\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/AAlex3.jpg 504w, https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/AAlex3-300x120.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 504px) 100vw, 504px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Last week I asked for guesses as to what a couple of David Tayler roughs might be for. After a few suggestions I think Alan Lewis and colleague win as I&#8217;m now 99.9% sure it was an unused idea for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/PANG200.htm\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;Ice Cold in Alex&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/a> by Christopher Landon. He suggested the second drawing was definitely a scene from the film and after looking at it I agree. I&#8217;ve added a still from the film to the page for G200 as back up to the suggestion. I recently featured the complete<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/2024\/ACFontana\/MBFontanaChristie.htm\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Agatha Christie &#8216;foxtail&#8217; titles<\/span><\/strong><\/a> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">from Fontana with cover artwork by Martin Baker and now\u00a0 I&#8217;m including what was listed as<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/2026\/May\/CorgiSF\/SFCollectorsLibrary.htm\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;The Corgi SF Collectors Library&#8217;<\/span> <\/strong><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">plus a few earlier titles with covers I like.
