This time it is for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/PANGP62.htm\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;Tramp Royal&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/a> by Michael Bruce. <span style=\"font-size: revert;\">Sir Michael William Selby Bruce, 11th Baronet (27\/03\/1894 to<\/span><span style=\"font-size: revert;\"> 02\/05\/1957) was an author and soldier. He went to<\/span><span style=\"font-size: revert;\">\u00a0<\/span>Abingdon School<span style=\"font-size: revert;\"> and later <\/span><span style=\"font-size: revert;\">joined the British South Africa Police as a trooper. After the First World War service with the Royal Artillery at <\/span>Gallipoli<span style=\"font-size: revert;\">\u00a0and on the\u00a0<\/span>Western Front<span style=\"font-size: revert;\">, Bruce became a traveller, largely in <\/span>Africa<span style=\"font-size: revert;\">\u00a0and South America, and an author and newspaper columnist. During the Second World War he served in a barrage balloon unit, with 901 (County of London) squadron,\u00a0<\/span>Royal Air Force<span style=\"font-size: revert;\"> Regiment.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: revert;\"> Later in the war he was Senior Weapons Instructor for glider pilots at Bridgnorth.\u00a0<\/span>I do have quite a few more Tayler roughs for westerns which weren&#8217;t published by PAN. This one is for the 1973 edition of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/PANG226.htm\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;The Big Story&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/a> by Morris West. This makes it five, I have including three numbered G226 one of which was for the 1965 film tie-in when the title was changed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/PANG226.htm\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8216;The Crooked Road&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A couple of blogs back I included a list of the letters and prices PAN used for their eclectic numbering system pre SBN (Standard Book Number) and then for SBNs on the spine before ISBNs came in. I thought I had listed them all but on taking my 1970 copy of <em><strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">&#8216;East Of Eden&#8217;<\/span><\/strong><\/em> by John Steinbeck off the shelf I noticed it was a &#8216;C&#8217; which made it 8\/- or 40p today.
