Most of the smaller ones tend to be printed in France and it&#8217;s probably to do with the difference in imperial and metric paper sizes. I thought the only reason that these were printed in Paris was to get around the paper shortage after WW2 and that it stopped around 1950. After mentioning &#8216;Moonraker&#8217; recently I noticed this was printed by <span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Le Livre Universel<\/span> as late as 1956. In 1947 he became a director and participated in the development of publishing company <strong><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Pan Books<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">. With the support of the board of <\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong>Pan Books <\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">he developed a means of exploiting a new printing technique, combining text with images. This took him into<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> the use of the photographic process in printing. He later formed a company, of which he was the sole owner, to conceive and develop a camera to produce precision three-dimensional photographic images, identical to those recorded by the human eye. The camera, which has itself not been overtaken by modern technology, produced colour positive images.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Romo.jpg\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1928\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Romo-118x300.jpg\" alt=\"Romo\" width=\"118\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Romo-118x300.jpg 118w, https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Romo.jpg 134w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 118px) 100vw, 118px\" \/><\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong><br \/>\nAlan Bott <\/strong><\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">said of his appointment to the board of <\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong>Pan Books <\/strong><\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">&#8220;&#8230;the reason why I nominated you as a <strong>Pan Books Director<\/strong> is that you had provided excellent (not to say brilliant) service for us in Paris and that,in my opinion, it was a good thing for you to have the status of Director in dealing with officials and with the Heads of the production houses who do work for us.&#8221; Simultaneous with this appointment he created two separate companies in Paris in publishing, Les Editions Albatross and <\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong>Le Livre Universel<\/strong>.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Image1.jpg\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1946\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Image1-300x103.jpg\" alt=\"Image1\" width=\"300\" height=\"103\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Image1-300x103.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.tikit.net\/panfans\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Image1.jpg 650w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I had an email recently asking about the anomaly in the book dimensions of the early titles .
